When you upload a design to Ponoko, you assign laser functions to each line and fill color present. This is done via the drop down buttons on the left:

You will need at least two colors in your file if you require engraving (one color for engraving and a second color for cutting) Any color combinations can be used, but we do recommend using this combination:
Blue stroke = cutting
Red stroke = line engraving
Gray fill = area engraving
