Ponoko offers 2 different inspection options for our CNC laser and sheet metal fabrication services. The inspection options are described below.

Standard Inspection:

Our Quality Control (QC) department inspects all parts to verify that the part material, features, and finish are in accordance with the specifications outlined in your quote and in accordance with the Ponoko Manfuacturing standards. Documentation is not included with the parts shipment.

Formal Inspection with Dimensional Inspection Report:

Our Quality Control (QC) department inspects all critical dimensions, attributes, dimensional locations, for adherence to print notes. A balloon drawing with critical dimensions circled and numbered must be provided for this inspection.

A dimensional inspection report, correlated to the ballooned print highlighting critical dimensions, will be provided with your parts. Note that the maximum number of inspection points per part is 10. For larger quantities, a custom inspection with additional fees will be required.

This inspection follows a statistically valid sampling plan based on ASQC Z1.4 2008 Level II with a Zero Reject acceptance criteria. Please refer to the table below.

How Does Ponoko Handle Non-Conformances?

Non-Conformances & Rejected Parts Found Prior To Shipping

Rejected or non-conforming parts are documented and communicated based upon the inspection type selected. If parts are found to be non-conforming prior to shipping, parts will be reworked or reproduced until parts are deemed to be conforming to the specifications of the order.

For Standard Inspections, Ponoko may ship parts found with minor non-conformances (that cannot be reworked into compliance and are assumed to not impact the fit, form, or function of the part) for customer review.

Non-Conformances & Rejected Parts After Delivery

Post-delivery non-conformance communications should be submitted per Ponoko's Return Policy and documented with the Order ID, part ID, quantity, detailed description and photos of the non-conformance. Ponoko may ask you to return non-conforming parts for root cause analysis and disposition.
